SouthTown Riders started as a group of wakeboarders that were really close friends. At the time, we weren’t Christians. We would ride behind an old boat any chance we had. Through the years of riding together we all became Christians one by one. That is when we felt led to begin using our skills for a greater cause – His cause! We started traveling to different contests around North and South Carolina as we began to integrate into the local wakeboarding scene. After going to tons of contests, advancing our own skills, and meeting a lot of people, we started giving lessons. Within a year, we were running day camps during the summer. The wakeboard camp provided the avenue for SouthTown to begin impacting the youth to which we felt called to minister. Camps quickly began to fill with individuals, youth groups, and inner city groups. The day camps have always served as the basis of who SouthTown Riders is called to be. From there, the doors began to open for further opportunities. SouthTown published a youth devotional that accompanied a nationwide wakeboarding tour. We had the chance to travel the country teaching wakeboarding and speaking to youth groups. The message we carried was to “Love the Lord your God and love your neighbor as yourself.” SouthTown has been down many roads and seen many changes. There have been times of excitement and times of trial. Through it all, our purpose remains strong…to impact the lives of youth for the sake of Christ through the medium of action sports. The rest is HISTORY!!!!!
